@davidcarrington to be fair, it was a replacement to the Blackberry Bold, and perhaps, once I find the patience to be able to deal with the handset, and eventually get the V20 firmware upgrade (which as far as I know still isn’t available on Vodafone) it might be a little more bearable..

I just can’t get over the fact that right now I can’t answer calls, or use it as a normal handset.. Perhaps it might improve in a few months.. but right now, I’m just desperately trying to get to the point where the phone just works..

Do you think that the problem with the N97 is essentially it launched too early? That the customers were sold on promises that future upgrades would iron out the obvious flaws?

After meeting Farhan at the last Twestival I may have influenced his decision to buy an N97. I’m fairly sure I would have said at the time: I hate the UI and the whole OS but the battery life and camera make up for it.

The v20 firmware really is worth upgrading to – it does fix a lot of the unlocking bugs.

I still use it as my main phone and enjoy that it lasts 2 days with heavy/moderate use (taking photos, recording videos, couple of calls, lots of texts, MP3 playback, FM transmitter etc).
