After having had a little play with 3 key devices out in the UK market place, namely the Palm Pre, HTC Hero and iPhone 3GS I have noticed a similarity between all of them. No it’s not the capacitive touch screen, it’s not online app stores, what has caught my eye is the poor battery performance. If a smartphone is released which last a day and a half minimum with *heavy* usage, that will be the killer device to have. It wouldn’t matter so much if the ux was not he best, battey is King! This is a key factor behind my decision to get an Eee PC originally over other similar netbooks an even laptops, it had a 8-9 hr battery performance, which versus an average of 2-3 hours for standard laptops/netbook is a amazing. If the battery mystery can be solved by anyone in the smartphone game, it would truly be game changing.
